Animals in Distress logoRemember that animals are good companions and can make very loyal servants or pets, depending on how they are treated. As a human you have a responsibility to be kind to animals - they have a right to co-exist in safety, peace and harmony with us.

People who have compassion for our donkey friends in their time of need are really special and need your support - click here  and look at the second project on the page, to see what can be achieved: Coalyard Project

If you are in Africa, and are keen to learn about donkeys and their uses from Donkey Expert Dr. Peta Jones, click here:  Donkey Power (Lots of info and pictures for you to browse and download)

Peta teaches, in participatory workshops, the management and care of donkeys, and the making of any necessary equipment such as carts and harnesses. She runs workshops for agricultural extension workers, and in rural communities to enable them to participate in tourism with  their donkeys.

Breede River Valley & Little Karoo, Western Cape, South Africa

Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary provides a permanent refuge for abused, neglected and elderly donkeys.  Here they are given the opportunity to live out their lives with respect and dignity, surrounded by their own kind, in a protective and natural environment. One of the ways you can help is to adopt a donkey for a year to help towards the costs of our work.

Adoption makes an ideal anniversary, birthday, special occasion or Christmas present
